Our Langley Offices
We have two buildings in Langley, both on 199th Street in the Willoughby community.
For families, we have a dedicated play therapy room designed specifically for working with children. It’s stocked with miniatures, toys, art supplies, and creative materials that give kids the tools to express what words can’t yet reach.
The counselling rooms themselves are warm, comfortable, and deliberately not clinical. Plants on the windowsill. A proper couch. The kind of space where you can actually settle in and breathe.
We sit at the heart of the Willoughby community, central enough to be accessible from anywhere in Langley or Surrey, but tucked away enough to provide the privacy and quiet you deserve. Whether you’re coming from work or home, we’re just minutes from Highway 1 and the 200th Street corridor. For clients in Maple Ridge, we’re a convenient 15-to-20-minute drive via the Golden Ears Bridge, making professional support easily accessible from both sides of the river.
Both buildings have free client parking, with street parking also available.

How We Work
If you’ve been looking at counselling practices in Langley, you’ve probably noticed a pattern. A lot of them lead with technique lists and modality acronyms. We lead with the relationship.
Our approach is relational and person-centered. What that actually means: the connection between you and your counsellor isn’t just a nice bonus. It’s where the real work happens. And the research backs this up consistently. The therapeutic relationship is the single strongest predictor of whether counselling actually helps. Stronger than any specific technique or method.
In practice, that looks like a counsellor who gets curious about you. Not someone handing you worksheets or running through a standardized protocol. Our team draws on attachment-based, experiential, and body-centered approaches. We pay attention to what’s happening in your body, not just your thoughts. Sometimes the most important information isn’t something you can articulate yet, and a good counsellor knows how to work with that.
We don’t use CBT or EMDR. That’s a deliberate choice, not a gap. Our work moves at your pace. No artificial timelines. No pressure to “graduate” by a certain session count. Some clients are with us for a few months. Some for years. Both are fine.

Find Your Langley Counsellor
The right fit between you and your counsellor matters more than anything else. Use our therapist selector tool to find a counsellor whose expertise, approach, and availability match what you’re looking for.
Why Choose Lavender Counselling in Langley?
Relational, Person-Centered Approach
We don’t treat diagnoses. We work with people. Your counsellor will take the time to understand your full story, not just the symptoms that brought you in.
Body-Based, Experiential Work
Our counsellors may draw on somatic and body-centered practices that go beyond talk. If thinking your way through things hasn’t worked so far, there’s a reason for that.
A Free Consultation to Start
We offer a complimentary 20-minute conversation so you can get a feel for your potential counsellor before committing. And if the first match isn’t right, we’ll help you find another. No pressure, no settling.
Counsellors Who Stay
We have some of the highest clinician retention rates in the region. That matters because consistency in therapeutic relationships leads to better outcomes.
No Artificial Timelines
Some insurance-driven models push for resolution by a fixed number of sessions. We don’t operate that way. Your work takes as long as it takes, and we trust you to know when you’re ready.
Flexible Access
In-person sessions at our Langley offices, or virtual sessions from anywhere in BC. Whatever works for your life.
Insurance-Friendly
Registered clinical counsellors are covered by most extended health plans. We also work with CVAP, FNHA, and other assistance programs.
Deep Community Roots
We’ve been in Langley since 2012. This isn’t a satellite office or a franchise. This is where we started, and it’s where the majority of our team works every day.
What to Expect
Your First Session
The first session is really about getting oriented. Your counsellor will want to hear what brought you in, get a sense of your history, and start understanding what matters to you. There’s no pressure to go deep right away.
Some people come in with a clear picture of what they want to work on. Others just know something isn’t right. Both are perfectly fine starting points.
How the Work Unfolds
After the first session or two, you and your counsellor will find a rhythm. Some weeks might be heavier emotional work. Other weeks might feel more grounded and practical. That’s normal. Your counsellor will check in regularly about how things are going, and if something isn’t working, say so. That’s useful information, not a failure.
For couples and families, the process looks a bit different. Your counsellor will work to understand each person’s experience while keeping the relationship itself in view. It can feel uncomfortable at first, that’s part of the work.
Confidentiality
What you share stays in session. There are a small number of legally required exceptions (like imminent risk of harm), and your counsellor will explain those clearly upfront.
For parents of children in therapy, your counsellor will talk with you about how information is shared, balancing your need to know with your child’s need for a safe, private space.
Session Frequency
Most clients start weekly. Over time, some people shift to biweekly or monthly as things stabilize. There’s no set schedule, it depends on what you need and what makes sense for where you are in the work.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral to book at your Langley office?
No referral needed. You can book directly through our website or call us. We start with a free 20-minute consultation so you can connect with a counsellor before committing to a session.
What’s the difference between your Langley and Vancouver offices?
Langley is our full-service location. We offer individual counselling for all ages (including toddlers and children), couples counselling, family therapy, group therapy, and professional supervision and training. Our Vancouver office at 402 West Pender serves teens (13+), adults, and elders for individual counselling. The approach and quality of care is the same. The difference is scope.
Do you offer child counselling?
Yes, at our Langley offices only. We work with children as young as toddler age, using play-based, creative, and relational approaches. Our child counsellors have specific training in child development and age-appropriate therapeutic methods. For children ages 6-12, sessions take place in our dedicated play therapy room.
Can I do couples or family counselling here?
Yes. Couples and family counselling are available at our Langley offices. We have counsellors trained in working with relational dynamics, whether you’re navigating conflict, considering separation, working through infidelity, or wanting to strengthen your connection.
How much does a session cost?
Session rates vary by counsellor, typically ranging from $140 to $180 per session for registered clinical counsellors. Couples sessions may have different rates. We also offer reduced-rate sessions with our practicum students at $50 per session. These are graduate-level counselling students completing supervised clinical training. Most extended health plans cover registered clinical counsellors, and we can provide receipts for direct billing or reimbursement.
Can I switch between in-person and virtual sessions?
Yes. Many clients do a mix depending on their schedule or how they’re feeling in a given week. Your counsellor can accommodate both in-person sessions at the Langley office and virtual sessions.
What if my counsellor isn’t the right fit?
Tell us. Seriously. The therapeutic relationship is the foundation of our work, so if it doesn’t feel right, that matters. We’ll help you connect with someone else on our team, whether at our Langley or Vancouver office. We offer the free consultation specifically so you can get a sense of fit before committing.
Do you offer group therapy?
Yes. We run group therapy programs at our Langley offices for specific concerns including chronic pain and illness, traumatic grief, trauma and PTSD, and groups specifically for counselling professionals. Groups typically run over multiple days with small group sizes (3-8 people). Contact us for current group schedules and availability.
What about supervision or training for counselling professionals?
We offer clinical supervision, supervision of supervision, practicum placements, and workshops for counselling professionals. Contact us for details on current offerings and availability.
Is the building accessible?
Both buildings are wheelchair accessible. If you have specific accessibility needs, please let us know when booking and we’ll make sure we can accommodate you.
What insurance or assistance programs do you accept?
Our counsellors are registered and or certified clinical counsellors covered by most extended health benefit plans. We also work with CVAP (Crime Victim Assistance Program), FNHA (First Nations Health Authority), and other assistance programs. Check with your insurance provider to confirm your coverage details.
