Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP)

If you have been exposed to a crime your nervous system can become overwhlemed.

After being exposed to a crime, whether it happens to you, a loved one, or you witness it, you might feel like your world has been turned upside down. You might begin to feel like you are always ‘on guard’ searching the world around you looking to find anything else that could happen. You might become very protective of others, including your loved ones. You might not want to leave your place for fear of what might happen outside the safety and comfort of your home. Your body might shake or tremor for what seems like no reason at all. You may feel numb and in a state of shock moving through life on autopilot. Maybe you feel like the world is unreal and you are floating above or behind yourself. You might find yourself swinging between these common reactions. Counselling can help those involved in Crime Victims Assistance Program (CVAP).

Lavender Counselling supports individuals who are in the Crime Victims Assistance Program.
